As part of the 88th Annual NAACP Texas State Convention, the Health Committee will host a full day of impactful programs on Saturday, October 11, 2025, designed to promote wellness, preparedness, and access to resources across Texas communities.
Farm-to-Table Initiative
A cooperative is being formed with a select group of Black farmers from Texas. Several farmers will be onsite at the hotel to offer fresh produce for sale. A special presentation will highlight the benefits of incorporating farm-fresh foods into everyday life.
American Red Cross Training
The American Red Cross will provide an overview session on CPR and disaster sheltering. This training is especially designed for communities and churches seeking to become approved shelters. Expanded training opportunities will be available after the convention.
Health Screenings
Local agencies from the Austin area will provide complimentary health screenings, giving attendees valuable insights into their wellness.
Health Awards Luncheon
During the luncheon, awards will be presented to community leaders across Texas who have made outstanding contributions to health and wellness. The program will also feature speakers on health-related topics and remarks from a retired Colonel, complementing the 6888 military presentation later in the day.
Health & Insurance
Pending confirmation, a session will address Medicaid and other vital health resources.
Join us for this important day dedicated to health, wellness, and community empowerment.
